SUITE DEDICATED TO ELEANOR OF TOLEDO
After being accustomed to the King of Spain’s court and to living in the Royal Palace of Naples and the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, when Eleanor arrived in Florence she did not feel comfortable living first in the Palazzo Medici in Via Larga and then in the austere Palazzo della Signoria. She therefore decided to buy a palace that was worthy of her and her husband Cosimo I. She had a garden built there, the most beautiful in the world and a true open-air museum: Boboli Gardens.
The suite dedicated to Eleanor of Toledo is the most beautiful of the Duomo Luxury Suites and is one of the most beautiful in Florence. As soon as you open the door of this Junior Deluxe Suite, you are immediately greeted by an image of Eleanor and her son Giovanni, her second child, who almost seem to want to accompany us into the room.
In this room, you feel like you’re in the middle of the splendid Boboli Gardens, waking up to the chirping of birds. There is a magical atmosphere.
The large coat of arms that stands out over the fireplace symbolises the House of Medici and the Alvarez de Toledo family. The ancient marble fireplace, when lit, creates a charming, romantic atmosphere that, along with the frescoes, the decorated ceilings and the marvellous view of the Cathedral and the Baptistery, will make your stay unforgettable.
