SUITE DEDICATED TO BIANCA CAPPELLO

Francesco I fell in love with Bianca, a beautiful Venetian woman. Then, after the death of his wife Joanna, he married Bianca, who thus became Grand Duchess of Tuscany.

As we enter this room, her story welcomes us. The ceiling is decorated with drawings of shells and garlands, bringing to mind the Venetian decorations that Bianca had in her childhood home, Palazzo Trevisan, in Venice, on the Rio Palazzo and a stone’s throw from the Bridge of Sighs.

Among the ceiling decorations, in the centre you can see Bianca Cappello’s coat of arms, in which the Lion of Saint Mark, symbol of Venice, a reference to the Cappello family and the House of Medici stand out.
